Read my BlogOne of my favorite pastimes is going on an adventure with my daughter. We've never gone on a hike..it's always an adventure. We aren't trying to get anywhere, we simply go outside and explore. It seems, on these adventures, my attention is always drawn to patterns and small details. I've always taken pictures on these adventures just because I thought they looked cool.
Recently things have transpired in my life that has given me the time to prepare WaterBetweenStones.com, and I have felt the need to share the beauty I find on these adventures with others. It is currently my primary source of income and in pursuing it I am finding my needs are being met. The pictures I actually use on this site are the ones that I find share nature's beauty in its simplest forms, a unique scale of the world that ignites curiosity and wonder.
The native scouts, who lived in intimate harmony with nature, hold philosophies that are similar to eastern philosophies. It is said that the truth that can be spoken of, is not the real truth. Yet I wanted to add some words to my images that might allow me to more deeply experience the hidden beauty in the snapshot of nature right in front of my eyes. Therefore most of the stock text is geared towards these philosophies.
I love crisp photography and great art. The problem is I simply can't afford to get it mounted and framed, and the cheap dollar poster never quite cut it. Plus I've had my share of cracked glass and broken art during moves.
So I came up with a simple solution. Build the frame and the mounting into the photograph! Print it on Photo-Tex, and you have a "framed" piece of art that looks great, easy to move, and virtually indestructible. Or if you wish, order a paper version and mount and frame it in the standard tradition
I chose text that speaks to me and each particular photo. Thankfully we're all different and perhaps you would rather just have the photograph. That's been arranged. Perhaps you really like the photo but the text doesn't speak to you, and you know exactly what quote or phrase you think should be included. No problem, here's your opportunity to create your own art that speaks to you through our "custom text option".
